The 1950s saw a great boom in rail transport in this country, not only in terms of transport and track construction, but also in the development of new vehicles. There was also a unification of vehicle sub-assemblies, and so in the 1960s the Type 26 chassis for freight wagons was developed. This saw several more versions and was extended to the vast majority of our chassis trucks. We offer it in one of the earliest versions with a rectangular cut-out (cat.no. 12042 ) and also in one of the latest versions 26 - 2.8, with a circular hole (cat.no. 12043 ). Cars with the latter chassis are still seen quite often on our lines today.
Model
Although we cannot compete with the plastic chassis sold by price, the brass chassis have several other advantages, such as detail workmanship, "metal on metal" axle fitting, heavier weight of the chassis and last but not least, especially on models where the chassis are "nested" inside between the frame stringers, you will appreciate the fact that our chassis are considerably slimmer and therefore allow more travel , necessary for passing smaller radii of curves. Also, the option of mounting the coupling (see below) directly to the chassis is certainly not to be missed.
The sheet includes everything needed to build a pair of chassis. The bearings and suspension are made in detail, so even on the models you can see the different designs of the bearing houses, both variants. An adapter for mounting to the model is also included.
