Already during the First Republic, a uniform construction of water cranes was established. The Spitzner type construction was chosen, and the older cranes of the private railways were gradually reconstructed.
Thus, at the end of the steam era, it was rare to see a different design.
Cranes of this type are still to be seen, and in places where steam traction is still operated as a nostalgia, they are kept operational.
