The gearbox is available as a kit or fully assembled.
To press uninsulated wheels onto the axle, it is necessary to remove the axle pin from the hub, otherwise you risk damaging the hub.

The gearbox design is very simple and allows for relatively easy but very precise assembly and disassembly without the use of any tools or aids. Everything can be done by hand, with the possible exception of mounting or pressing on the wheels. The gearbox body is precision CNC machined from Delrin. The photos show a prototype in white, but in series production this part will be black. The bearing holes are larger than the inserted components (worm and bevel gear), so assembly is carried out through these holes. The bearings are precisely made of brass with a slight overlap, so they can be easily pressed into the gearbox body. The bearing holes are drilled to 2H7, so in combination with hardened and polished axles, the mounting is very easy and precise. The worm is CNC-milled from brass, which means that its pitch is accurate to thousandths according to theoretical calculations. The bevel gear is rolled from Delrin with the highest precision, as is customary with our gears. Both the gear and the worm are supplied already precisely pressed onto the axles.

A special feature of this gearbox is the wheel shaft, which allows the bearings to be used to collect current from uninsulated wheels, greatly simplifying the drive design. However, it is also possible to solder the usual collector plates or wires to the bearings and collect current from the rim using them.

The gearbox body has a base area of 5×6 mm and the bearings protrude 10.2 mm. The gearbox can, of course, be modified by narrowing the bearings and changing the gear wheel (narrowing the hubs) and used in N-scale models, but an even smaller gearbox is planned for this scale.

Another special feature are the suspension eyes, which allow the construction of a suspension with sprung axles using string, as is currently done with high-quality suspensions built from etched parts.
